Mylo has a track out called In My Arms. Now that may not seem like noteworthy news until, that is, you realise the main sample in the song is from an old Boy Meets Girl song, called Waiting for a Star to Fall. Now unlike the two songs mentioned in my earlier post here, this track is a welcome dose of variety. Besides just having a short sample of the phrase "in my arms" repetitively used throughout, a highly predictable structure, and a severe lack of redeeming features besides its 'dancability' it is still much better than having two independent acts releasing essentially the same remix.
In any case I continue to hope for the centralised control of remixes and covers, because 'artists' really need to pick a new '80s track to make club accessible.

Define Dance???
Define Dance???
The official definition from
The official definition from me boys is as follows:
"Dance is a medium of self expression, an artform based on the gesture and the movement, which explores and often defines the boundaries of the human condition, with or without the use of music, rhythm, composition, improvisation and emotion."
I particularly enjoyed the use of the word authoratative, when referring to my definition. I think that says a lot about the mental picture you have of me triclops. :)
On closer reading of the parameters of the scale of danceability you describe in your eariler comment, I would refer you to the chapter that the boys in Dead Poets Society were asked to read, of "A Century of Verse" (or something along those lines)which outlined a similar scale of how to define the "greatness" of poetry.
From memory they ripped that chapter out.
When I refer to
When I refer to 'danceability' I am referring to a scale that is defined by an easily quantifiable set of criteria that is in no way biased by someone's ability (namely mine) to dance (or look like a fool) or how much they like (or dislike) the song.
A song is classed 'danceable' for a particular style of dancing when it meets a predetermined set of values on the scales used to measure 'danceability'.
The set of scales include the tempo and meter of the song, the key the music is written in and how 'straight' the beat is (that is how close the emphasized beats sit to a straight beat. So a swing would score low, but house music would score high. This scale can be further broken down to measure latin rhythms like salsas and tangos).
So to demonstrate the 'danceability' of this song I had purely intended to measure it in this manner, not by actually going out and trying to dance to it. And if that sort of observational experimentation was required I'd just watch someone else do it (so as to not bias the results of course).
Objective measurements like 'danceability' should, nay, must be conducted with the utmost scientific integrity.
Good point. I wonder if
Good point. I wonder if strutting would be considered dancing?
I'll leave the authoritative definition to a more qualified reader (hint, hint).
